Please Help My Student Fighting Cancer!

{UPDATE: GIO HAS BEEN CANCER FREE FOR OVER 2 YEARS!!!!! HE IS DOING GREAT!! THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO DONATED PRODUCTS AND WHO GENEROUSLY PURCHASED THESE PRODUCTS DURING THE CAMPAIGN.}

Plz read then pin or post on blog/facebook/instagram, etc!
Wouldn't it be devastating to find out that your child has cancer? And then be forced to move in order to save money to pay for his care? That has happened to one of my students. Gio (age 7) was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer in May 2014. After he finished 11 days in the hospital getting his first 2 rounds of chemo, his family of 6 moved in with relatives to save money for medical expenses. I teach a self-contained special ed class, grades K-3, so Gio will be in my class for the next 2 years!! He is a sweet boy who has overcome many obstacles in his life, and the family is so deserving of our help.

I thought I could help Gio’s family by offering a bunch of my items for sale in a bundle at a special rate.
But it ends up that several generous sellers on TpT have donated items from their stores to help so
now there are two bundles that can be purchased!

Bundle #1 has 27 fantastic items ($100 worth of product for only $20), with 830 pages:

Bundle #2 "Back to School Theme" with 13 products and 550 pages, $35 worth of product for only $10:

Please consider purchasing, and also I would so love it if lots of people would post this to their blogs,
pinterest boards and linky parties, etc.  and of course facebook, instagram, etc!!!
Thanks so much!!!!!!!!  Lisa

Abe Lincoln Art - Easy Paper Plate Craftivity

We did this fun, simple craftivity after reading the book, Abe Lincoln's Hat. The only materials you need are items you probably already have in your classroom:
  • paper plates
  • black construction paper
  • black paint and painting supplies
  • popcicle sticks
  • hot glue gun
  • stapler

This year's Lincoln project was super easy! I have found that over the years a little prep work ahead of time helps the art session to go smoother (especially if you or your paras might get interrupted by behavior issues).

1. Ahead of time I cut each paper plate into a U shape, and then used a glue gun to adhere a small popsicle stick to it.
2. Kids painted the paper plates black and left them to dry.
3. After they dried, we stapled each plate to a black stovetop hat.  And that's it!!

My students loved their Lincoln hat/masks!!

Super easy and they turned out great!!!  Since I teach a self-contained (California calls it SDC) class of kids grades K-3, I end up teaching some kids for up to 4 years in a row! As a result, often I will come up with alternate art activities for a holiday, etc. so kids don't make the same stuff each year.   Click here for last year's Abe Lincoln craft.

Three Reasons Why You Need this Heart Font

Today I am happy to show you one of the first fonts I ever made. Below are three reasons why you need to get it:

1. Each letter is embellished it a heart, which will add cuteness to any document or project around Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, weddings, birthdays... just about any time!

2.  I am a special ed teacher and know that many letters can be confusing to students with dyslexia and other learning disabilities. Please note that I intentionally made lowercase b, d, p and q to look a bit different, as well as letters u and n to help prevent letter reversals. Uppercase letters, lower case letters, numbers and the most common English symbols are included. Look below to see them all.

3. And you know what's best of all? This font is free for personal and commercial use (see Terms of Use below). So don't wait a moment longer, go get it now at  My TeacherPayTeachers store.

Please enjoy and let me know what you think of it!!

New Fonts and Products

I have been working hard over Christmas break on some new products!  I will be putting some new freebies there soon, so please follow my store if you aren't already.

First, I have uploaded some Chinese New Year Vocabulary. This is awesome for special ed or Speech Language therapists because it focuses on 8 simple vocabulary words with simple definitions. Words, definitions and pictures are provided in 7 formats, so there is something for higher functioning students as well as non-readers and nonverbal students.

I've also posteed a fun Christmas Themed CVC Review Game.  It uses a TIC TAC TOE game format. It also comes with blank cards so you can use them for any subject!

Finally, I've been having lots of fun creating some fonts!!  Look for them soon in my my TpT store.. Below is the first freebie I will upload soon...you saw it here first!!!  The freebie version is all caps only, but I'm working on lower case letters to add on, as well as additional fonts with the blank sections filled in with different designs.
Once it has been uploaded to Tpt, please try it out and let me know know what you think in the comments. Thanks for reading!!
